Market Umbrella is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3), based in New Orleans, whose mission is to cultivate the power of farmers markets to drive economic and community health in the region. Market Umbrella has operated the Crescent City Farmers Markets (CCFM) since 1995.
Market Match: Local SNAP Benefits
We believe farmers markets should benefit farmers, shoppers, and the wider community. Through Market Match, we offer incentives to consumers with high need to purchase the best local produce available at our markets and at partner retailers across New Orleans. Traditionally, Market Umbrella has matched up to $20 per market visit, but in recognition of the urgent food access need exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida, we are able to remove the cap and offer an unlimited dollar for dollar Match at all markets and partner locations beginning in January 2023. This would not be possible without the support from the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture and Greaux the Good, Louisiana's new statewide nutrition incentive program. Questions? Please reach out to Kasey, Director of Healthy Food Access Programs, at kasey@marketumbrella.org. |
Market Match for SNAP
There are now so many ways to Market Match! Here’s how Market Match works:
At Crescent City Farmers Markets
First, purchase wooden tokens from the Market’s Welcome Tent with your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. EBT tokens can be used to purchase any item at the market that you’d normally swipe your EBT card for in a store. Through Market Match, we’ll match each EBT dollar you spend, dollar for dollar, with additional tokens that can be used to purchase fruits, vegetables, and even food-bearing plant starts!
Parents whose children receive Summer Pandemic-EBT can also use Market Match to double their P-EBT credit. Market Umbrella extends Market Match to most major food benefit programs, including P-EBT, FMNP, SNAP, and WIC. For more information about Summer P-EBT click here.
Through Top Box Foods Louisiana Home DeliveryYou can use Market Match for all SNAP eligible products offered by Top Box Foods Louisiana and have them delivered directly to your house! Visit their website to see their delivery radius and place your order! |
