Simple Southern Boiled Green Peanuts
Fresh boiled peanuts… take me to the fair! Green peanuts have hit the market with the Indian Springs Farmers Association. Here’s an easy recipe to make fabulous peanuts, and lots of room to get creative with your own flavors!
Ingredients
- 1 lb green peanuts, in-shell
- ¼ cup salt (adjust to taste)
- Water, enough to submerge peanuts fully
Directions
- Rinse the peanuts and place in a large pot.
- Add enough water to completely submerge the peanuts, plus a couple of inches more.
- Stir in the salt until it fully dissolves. Adjust salt according to taste.
- Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low & let the peanuts simmer. Cover the pot with a lid, but leave it slightly ajar to prevent it from boiling over.
- Boil for 2 to 4 hours, or until they reach desired tenderness. Check periodically, and more water if needed to keep the peanuts submerged.
- Once done, drain the peanuts & let them cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
